Professor Petros Kefalas is the Vice President fof Learning & Teaching. He holds an MSc in Artificial Intelligence and a PhD in Computer Science, both with the University of Essex. He conducted research in Parallel Logic Programming, Artificial Intelligence, Formal Methods, Multi-Agent Systems and Learning and Tecahing in Higher Education. He has published over a 100 papers in journals and conference proceedings. He co-authored two Greek textbooks, one in Artificial Intelligence and one in Logic Programming. He is currently involved in investigating the applicability of formal methods for modelling, verifying and testing multi-agent systems, especially biological and biology inspired systems with emergent behaviour infused with emotional behaviour. He has worked as a reviewer of the Commission of the European Union on Research & Development Projects. He is a member of BCS, ACM, IEEE, ALP, Hellenic AI Society and the Greek Computer Society (EPY) in which he served as vice chairman of the local annex. As a Director of Learning & Teaching, he is responsible for the Quality Assurance and Enhancement processes of the Faculty. In 2017, he has been awarded the University of Sheffield Senate Award for Leadership in Learning & Teaching. He is a a Fellow at UK Higher Education Academy.
