In response to the rapidly developing situation of COVID-19, the Library has moved to an online way of working to ensure that we will continue to support the learning and research needs of the CITY College community and offer the best possible experience in services while safeguarding at the same time, the health and wellbeing of our students and staff.

The Library has already proceeded to a number of changes to services, including increased remote support and increased effort on making our collections and resources available to all users electronically.

ONLINE LIBRARY COLLECTIONS & RESOURCES

1. ELECTRONIC COLLECTIONS OF DATABASES, JOURNALS, eBOOKS, AND DISSERTATIONS   

Access to comprehensive electronic collections of databases, journals, ebooks, and dissertations

OpenABEKT Library Catalogue

  • eBook Collection: explore our eBooks and find what is newly acquired in the library.
  • eTextbooks: find in electronic format the main textbooks used for taught Units.
  • eRecommended Readings:  includes a list of supplemental readings pertaining to Units. Grasp the opportunity to further meet course expectations by going through the suggested Recommended Material of the Unit Syllabi.
  • eDissertations: locate the ecopy of dissertations held by students (title, subject, student name)

3. OPEN ACCESS RESOURCES (DOA)

The websites below are searchable directories of open access publications (journals and books), maintained and curated by not-for-profit scholarly foundations.

Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ)

  • DOAJ is a community-curated online directory that indexes and provides access to high quality, open access, peer-reviewed journals.

Directory of Open Access Books (DOAB)

  • Includes over 20 000 peer-reviewed academic e-books which are free to read, primarily in the humanities and social science disciplines.  Full text is available to download for reading offline.

 

LIBRARY SERVICES

Additional library services include:

  • Reference & Research Assistance: library services & resources are available 7 days a week: we are here to respond to your questions (by email or phone).
     
  • Interlibrary Request Service: when an item you are looking for is not available in fulltext, the library can locate it and send it to you by email. 
     
  • Document Delivery Service: ensures email delivery (articles, book chapters, conference papers) through our photocopying and scanning service or postal items (books or dissertations) by sending an email at the library with full bibliographic details of an item.

  • If you receive a Library Notice via email regarding outstanding overdue items please ignore it. All loan periods have been increased to 31 MAY for items that cannot be returned due to library closure.

The Library will continue to develop and enhance its capacity to support the online and remote services it offers to students and staff. This means that we are implementing ways to increase library material that will be available electronically.
