Computer Science students at the Copernicus Thessaloniki Hackathon

• A great representation of CITY College and a highly praised presentation by Hackathon’s judges

• CITY College and its Computer Science Department was among the Hackathon’s supporters

A group of students from the Computer Science of CITY College joined the Copernicus Thessaloniki Hackathon an innovative competition that came for to Northern Greece, and in particular to Thessaloniki, for the first time. Our students’ presentation at the conclusion of the competition received very positive comments and feedback from the judging panel.

The event took place on the 29th – 30th of November & the 1st of December 2019 at ok!Thess and attracted approximately 70 developers, tech enthusiasts, entrepreneurs, startuppers and university students. Divided in 14 teams, participants were to come up with a sustainable solution and develop a prototype using the data and/or services  from the Copernicus Earth Observation on the topic “Sustainable solutions for a sustainable way of living”.

Our students enjoyed the 3-day event, while at the same time had the opportunity to put theory into practice, use their skills, gain valuable experience, benefit from their mentors’ insights and at the same time meet and interact with other technology enthusiasts.
