Annual MBA Study Week at the University of Sheffield

In June-July 2013 our Executive MBA students of Cohort 20 from Thessaloniki, Belgrade, Bucharest, Kyiv and Istanbul visited the University of Sheffield in the UK for the Annual Study Week. Like every year the study week was a mix of classes, seminars, company visit activities, free time and exciting outings for the first year MBA students.

The students, escorted by Mr. George Efstathiadis, Director of the Executive MBA programme and also Dr Leslie Szamosi, Academic Director of the MBA programme were warmly welcomed by the acting Dean at the Management School of the University of Sheffield, Prof David Oglethorpe in a reception that took place at the new state-of-the-art premises of the Management School.

During their stay at Sheffield MBA participants attended the last module of the first year of their studies, ‘Developing Business Processes & Operations’ and also had classes for the online unit ‘Information Management’. An insightful full day seminar on ‘Negotiation Skills’ which is part of the Management Development Soft Skills programme, was also included in the Study Week’s agenda. Except for classes, students also participated in various activities and social events - party at a local bar in Sheffield- organised on the occasion of their visit. MBA participants had a great time at Sheffield and had the opportunity to network and share experiences.

Moreover all MBA students visited the Jaguar – Land Rover plant at Liverpool where the Range Rover SUV are produced. During the company visit company representatives presented the coroporate goals, strategies and achievements and also gave a tour presenting new production methods and tools used that were directly related to the unit ‘Operations and Process Management’ of the Executive MBA programme.
After the visit students had a chance to visit the city of Liverpool and especially the Docks (port- sea side) area.

The structure of the Executive MBA programme includes the Annual Study Week at the University of Sheffield, which takes place every year in June, giving students the opportunity to learn and have fun at the same time. Also, during each academic year all 2nd year EMBA students jointly attend the second Study Week of the programme in Thessaloniki.
