SURE International Faculty Exchange

SURE International Faculty Exchange

What is SURE?

The SURE scheme offers the opportunity for undergraduate students to become directly involved in the research activity of the University, take part in ‘real life’ research projects in subject areas that are of special interest to them, and experience what it’s like to work in partnership with academic staff or collaboratively in a research group.

What is SURE International Faculty Exchange?

The International Faculty Exchange section of SURE offers a funded opportunity for an undergraduate student based in the International Faculty of the University of Sheffield to travel to Sheffield to work in partnership with an academic staff member on a dedicated research project during the summer vacation.

Who is eligible?

All Level 2 students currently registered on an International Faculty undergraduate course.

When SURE takes place?

Monday 12 June 2017 - Friday 21 July 2017. There is flexibility to shift this period for one week only.

Where?

Who supervises the Research?

Two supervisors; one must be from the International Faculty, and one based in Sheffield.

What does the bursary include?

Bursaries are awarded based upon the standard rate of £180 per week (up to a maximum of £1,080 for a six week full-time project). Accommodation and travel costs will be covered by SURE.

Each SURE project may request up to £150 for additional material costs (or £500 for lab-based projects).

What are the criteria of acceptance?

The SURE Bursary Funding Panel will base its decision on the criteria listed here.

What will be the output?

Students are expected to produce two project outputs: (a) a final report, and (b) dissemination of the research.
