Seminar Overview
An introduction to Artificial Neural Networks and Deep Learning
In this seminar we will discuss how the human brain inspired us to create programs that very naively approximate the working of a brain, and therefore learn by example. We will look at the kind of problems that these programs (Artificial Neural Networks) can solve, how digital information can be presented to them and how they can be used to provide answers. Finally we will briefly talk about what Deep Learning is and how it has helped us to overcome the limitations we had until recently, thus being able to develop systems like ChatGPT.

Workshop Overview
Using Google Colab to build and train Artificial Neural Networks
Google's Colaboratory, or “Colab” for short, is a product from Google Research. Colab allows anybody to write and execute arbitrary python code through the browser, and is especially well suited to machine learning, data analysis and education. We will see how to use Colab in order to build a simple NN, and then we will then train the Neural Network to solve a simple problem.
15.30 – 16.00 Conclusions and Delivery of Certificate of Attendance
In the frame of the Open Seminar, participants will have the opportunity to attend a short presentation of the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes offered at CITY College, University of York Europe Campus in Thessaloniki, Greece and lead to Bachelors and Masters degrees awarded by the University of York.
