On 24 October 2013 students and alumni of the Business Administration and Economics Department had the opportunity to attend a very interesting seminar on funding opportunities for start-ups. The seminar was delivered by Mr. Christos Papanikolaou, Owner and CEO of Opto Hellas, Executive Member of the B.o.D. of the Greek International Business Association (SEVE) and Head of SEVE Next Generation (Sevenagers).

Mr. Papanikolaou presented to the students a new initiative by SEVE which invites young people to submit business ideas for new ventures, products and services to be examined, evaluated and financed by SEVE.

BAED students interested in this initiative submitted their business idea explaining why they think it is a winning idea worth investing in. This was a great funding opportunity for those seeking to create their own business and looking for funding opportunities at the same time.

Mr. Papanikolalou talked to the students about start-ups and what it takes to launch a business as well as the Next Generation entrepreneurs training provided by SEVE.

The event concluded with an interesting discussion between our students and the speaker, since funding a new business is one of new entrepreneurs’ major concerns.
