Congratulations to Mr. Rousis on receiving an MPhil Award

Mr. Konstantinos Rousis

Congratulations to Mr. Konstantinos Rousis on receiving an MPhil in Disciplined Exploitation of Emergent Properties from the University of Sheffield.

Mr. Konstantinos Rousis

Mr. Rousis’ research was supervised by Dr George Eleftherakis, Reader at the International Faculty’s Computer Science Department and Dr Tony Cowling, Senior Lecturer at the Computer Science Department of the University of Sheffield.

Pursuing a postgraduate research degree can be very challenging but at the same time it is highly rewarding. I am thankful for the opportunity to conduct research in such a prestigious institution, alongside people I respect both academically and personally. Although, at times, there can be a gap between industry and academia, I feel that the skills I acquired during my research are largely applicable to my everyday work; from software engineering to various aspects of management. SEERC and The University of Sheffield provide an ideal environment for such an endeavour and I am very thankful for all the support I have received during my undergraduate and postgraduate studies from all the academic and administrative staff” said Mr. Rousis.

Mr. Rousis study investigated alternative approaches to coping with levels of complexity of digital systems. The focus was on implicit engineering techniques which could lead to complex global-level behaviors by focusing solely on the local, or individual, level. This is commonly referred to as emergence in the fields of complex and multi-agent systems and it was the main theme of his work, along with techniques on designing biologically-inspired artificial distributed networks.

Mr Rousis holds a BSc in Computer Science by CITY College, International Faculty of the University of Sheffield. Currently, he is co-leading the development efforts at Samedi GmbH, in Berlin, Germany. Samedi GmbH is an international player in the e-health sector with thousands of hospitals, clinics, and other medical providers relying on its software in order to conduct their day to day business.

Congratulations to Mr. Rousis. We wish him success in his future endeavors.
