Computer Science student wins the first prize in STARTIFY7 Academy in Brussels

Congratulations to Computer Science student, Rina Basholli from Kosovo, who was awarded the first prize together with other members of the GetMeHome team that participated in the 2nd Bootcamp of the STARTIFY7 Academy in Brussels. GetMeHome is a start-up idea that aims at tackling the “drink-and-drive” problem in a creative and innovative way.

Rina’s team had to compete against twelve other selected and highly competent teams from the ICT start-up academies of Twente, Almeria, Katowice and Thessaloniki and was assessed as the best by a panel comprised of Business Angles, VCs and industry experts.

Rina said: “Being a part of such a huge event such as Startify7 was more than a privilege for me and winning the first prize was most definitely a great reward.
Creating the right team for the specific idea and work on it in order to make it as good as possible, within only two weeks, was a true challenge. The whole community including organisers, mentors and participants functioned like a huge family. This, was for sure a boost for us, participants, to collaborate more with each other in order to work productively. Right now we’re working for our next important event, the European Venture Summit (EVS), which is going to be held this December in Dusseldorf. Our goal is to attract as much investors as we can so we can continue to make our idea a reality! I don’t think I would ever be able to get involved in these kind of activities if it weren’t for the year of studies I did at the University of Sheffield International Faculty, CITY College. I was able to apply in practice the knowledge that I gained during my studies. This, only thanks to the committed staff of professors of the Computer Science Department and the opportunities that our university offers to its students.”

The next goal for Rina and the GetMeHome team is their participation at the European Venture Summit that will take place in Dusseldorf on 5-6 December 2016.

Way to go Rina!
