Two members from the International Faculty at the Board of the Greek Computer Society (Macedonia - Thrace chapter)

Two staff members from the International Faculty, CITY College were elected as member of the new Managing Committee of the Greek Computer Society (Macedonia Thrace chapter).

Dr George Eleftherakis, Reader at our Computer Science Department is the new Vice President and Dr Thomas Lagkas, Lecturer at our Computer Science Department was elected as Deputy Member of the Macedonia-Thrace chapter of the Greek Computer Society. Also, Prof. Panayiotis Ketikidis, Vice Principal of the International Faculty, CITY College serves as Emeritus President.

Elections for the Managing Committee of the Greek Computer Society take place every two years by secret voting at the General Assembly of the members and it comprises of five members.  The Society aims at promoting the use of ICT and contributing to the development of scientific research and education in the ICT sector as well as representing and supporting the ICT professionals of the region in Greece and abroad and providing customised technical assistance to private and public authorities.

The International Faculty is rather extrovert and highly involved in local and national organizations and associations, a practice that is inherent in the Faculty’s philosophy to liaise the academia with the industry and contribute the society overall.

Greek Computer Society (Macedonia Thrace chapter)The Macedonia-Thrace Chapter of the Greek Computer Society is a scientific, non-profit society that was established back in 1985 in Thessaloniki with the dual aim to promote the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in the regions of Macedonia and Thrace as well as to represent the ICT professionals of the region. The Macedonia-Thrace Chapter is an official annex of the Greek Computer Society which is based in Athens.
