Dr Gkasis in round table discussion on the Role of Democracy in a Social Market Economy

Dr Pavlos Gkasis, Lecturer in Economics at the Business Administration and Economics Department (BAED) participated in a round table discussion on the role of democracy and the social market economy. The discussion was co-organized by the South East European Research Centre (SEERC) and the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Greece on Monday 23 November, 2015.

Professor Thomas Apolte, Professor for Political Economy at the University of Münster, and Dr. Pavlos Gkasis, Lecturer in Economics at the South-East European Research Centre (SEERC) presented their view and research on how political and economic freedom can help or hinder democracy. Professor Apolte, focused on the role of democracy in the social market economy while Dr. Gkasis on the role of democracy in the contemporary global economy. The event was very successful and included a vibrant discussion with the audience. On Tuesday 24 November Dr. Gkasis gave an interview at Praktoreio 104,9 radio station discussing the event and the recent developments in the region.
