Dr Kalyva talks about children at the 2nd event by the International Faculty and YMCA

The focus of the second event jointly organised by the International Faculty and YMCA in Thessaloniki revolved around ‘children’, a very timely and popular topic for today’s parents who wish to be informed on parenting issues. The event took place on 14 May 2015 at the YMCA premises at the centre of Thessaloniki.

Dr Frosso KalyvaHonorary Senior Lecturer at our Psychology Department discussed the topic ‘How can children succeed in life and at school’, a topic that is stressful for most parents. Dr Kalyva shared her expertise gave some useful information and guidance to parents attending the event underpinning that parents need to build their children’s self-esteems and put the necessary and healthy limitations as well as inspire them to become the best they can be, taking into consideration the uniqueness of each child.

The second speaker, Ms Marina Zisiadou-Theofilou, Gestalt Psychotherapist, and YMCA’s associate, talked on the relationship between children and their parents and the importance of keeping open doors and building on a two-way communication within the family.

This second event took place in the frame of the multi-faceted cooperation between the International Faculty and YMCA. Joint events and activities will be taking place throughout the year within the frame of social action in the community.
