BAED students visit Athenian Brewery SA

A group of second level students attending the BA (Hons) in Business Studies visited the Athenian Brewery plant in Thessaloniki, the largest producer and distributor of beer in Greece. The company visit took place on 15 January 2015 in the context of Marketing Management and Operations Management units.

Escorted by Mr. Chris Liassides, Academic Director of Postgraduate Studies and Senior Lecturer in Marketing Management, the students were warmly welcomed by Mr. Stavros Dimou, Engineer and other members from the company’s management team. They were given a tour around the production line areas and were exposed to the various stages of the production of beer and other beverages. The students had the opportunity to ask questions and the answers provided to them added valuable knowledge to their existing understanding of the business environment.

The company visit proved to be an interesting and educational experience for our students.

Athenian Brewery S.A. is the largest producer and distributor of beer in Greece. It was established in 1963 by a group of Greek entrepreneurs and it is member of Heineken NV group. Today it sports four plants across Greece, three beer factories in Athens, Thessaloniki and Patras and a factory in Lamia bottling natural mineral water IOLI.

Company visits and working with industry are vital to enhance our students’ employability. The intention company visits is to give students, who will soon enter the workforce exposure to business culture, working environments and the world of work.
