Our Psychology Department becomes Organisational Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy

British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP)We are happy to announce that our Psychology Department recently became ‘Organisational Member’ of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

BACP is currently the largest UK (over 37,000 members) professional body representing counselling and psychotherapy. This is another official demonstration that our Psychology Department is dedicated to practicing responsibly, ethically and to the highest of standards not only academically, but professionally too. Graduates of our postgraduate programmes in Counselling Psychology will have one more advantage as counsellors in their professional field, since they will have graduated from a Psychology Department that was organisational member of BACP.

Dr. Suzie Savvidou , Academic Director of the postgraduate programmes in Counselling Psychology commented: “This membership is a very good development for our counselling students and graduates. The role of counselling becomes extremely important nowadays for everyone’s well being, and our graduates need to be distinguished among the so many counsellors and psychotherapists, with the status they deserve. Holding a degree from Sheffield University, in a Department which is an organizational member of BACP brings them closer to this achievement.”
